Der hinduistische Sri Kamadchi Ampal Tempel besteht seit 1989 im westfälischen Hamm. Die Geschichte des Tempels ist eng mit der Flucht von über 10000 singhalesischen Tamilen verbunden, die Sri Lanka aufgrund des damals herrschenden Bürgerkrieges ab 1983 verließen.
Daher ist die Hindugemeinde nicht nur ein religiöses Zentrum, sondern zugleich ein Ort der Integration und des Heimischwerdens der geflüchteten Tamilen in Deutschland.
Jedes Jahr findet die rituelle Waschung, die Körper und Geist reinigt, im Datteln-Hamm-Kanal statt.

The Hindu Sri Kamadchi Ampal temple was founded 1989 in Hamm, Westphalia. The history of the temple is closely associated with the escape of more than 10,000 Sinhalese Tamils from Sri Lanka due to the prevailing civil war in 1983. Therefore, the Hindu community is not only a religious center but also a place of integration and of becoming homelike for Tamils fled to Germany.
